Savi Mobile Tracking System: Perspective from an Industry Newbie About High Value Asset Tracking.

Posted: Tuesday, Apr. 24, 2012 by jgoda

I’ve recently joined Savi Technology as a Product Marketing Manager and am new to the high value asset tracking industry. With lots to learn I thought I’d chronicle my findings for others, either new to the industry or new to the solutions Savi Technology offers this evolving industry.

I was onsite recently at our Lexington, KY USA location and got my first demo of our product Savi Mobile Tracking System™. This is a new system comprised of Savi products and software that was launched at the end of January 2012 and, after much anticipation, has been well received in the marketplace. How this system is used is for real time global tracking of high value assets or cargo right from a user-friendly journey tracking dashboard on your computer. So, for a basic example, if the US Army was sending out humanitarian relief supplies to a foreign country and it wanted to monitor the route and conditions of this cargo it would use the Savi Mobile Tracking System.

That being said, there are several types of categories of goods being monitored across different transportation modes.
Some types of goods are:
• Export goods
• Transit goods conveyed by road and rail – this includes containerized, non-containerized cargo and motor vehicle units.
• Excise goods from Excise factory to destination
• Un-entered goods from Port to Container Freight Stations (CFS) and Inland Container Depots (ICD)

Some modes and destinations of goods are:
• Goods to bonded warehouses
• Goods under indirect transshipments
• Goods imported or exported under Export Processions Zones (EPZ), Manufacture under Bond (MUB) and Tax Remission and Export Office (TREO)
• Export goods

There are some really challenging environments out there in which organizations need to ship goods and have visibility into them. For high value assets it makes more sense to prevent theft or loss, improve transit times, curb diversion of cargo under Customs & Excise control, and lower insurance premiums by the bond guarantor by using a system like Savi Mobile Tracking System. There is a lot to share about this exciting tracking system – stay tuned for future posts about our global partner SGS and the OMNIS solution, powered by Savi SMTS, and a desktop view of this powerful tool with its user friendly interface. The more I learn, the more I realize it is all about the Value of Knowing™.

Meet the Savi Developer Team at AUSA Winter: Bring It!

Posted: Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011 by Paul Krakow

This week Kelly Caulk and I will be in Ft. Lauderdale for AUSA’s ILW Winter Symposium & Exposition. We’re heading to the “Venice of America” to meet with customers and partners who are building exciting new products with Savi Developer Tools. We’ve seen strong demand for DASH7 wireless sensors and SmartChain Adaptive Applications from a wide array of developers who support the US Army, and we’re looking forward to talking with them about some of the efforts we have underway to tie DASH7 sensors directly into HUMS (Health and Usage Monitoring Systems) and CBM (Condition Base Maintenance) programs. We’re especially interested in talking with folks who are working on Logistics Command and Control programs including the Joint Battle Command-Platform (JBC-P).

It’s been a long cold winter, and this is a good excuse to get beach-ready. If you’re going to be in town and you’d like to talk with us about DASH7 or the Savi Developer Program, then send us a note at SaviDevelopers@savi.com. We’re going to be looking for good reasons to take a break from our P90X Extreme Workout Sessions.
